UFC 189: Mendes vs McGregor Autographed Event Poster

The headliner saw Chad ‘Money’ Mendes battle ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor for the Interim Featherweight title! The co-main was a welterweight Title fight between UFC veteran, Robbie Lawler and hotshot Rory MacDonald. 

The event took place on July 11, 2015, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. The headlining event was the featherweight interim Title bout between McGregor and Mendes. Conor had been on a 14-fight unbeaten streak and was meant to be taking on Jose Aldo for the title – before the Brazilian pulled out with an injury.  McGregor took on Mendes on the same fashion that he’d eventually take on Aldo with, as he knocked Money Mendes out in the second round. The incumbent welterweight champion, Lawler, defeated MacDonald in the 5th round with a combination of brutal punches resulting in a TKO. Other notable fighters on the fight card includes Cody Garbrandt, who would become bantamweight champion at UFC 207.
